Advantage of Gambling Online
June 9th, 2011 Admin One advantage of gambling online compared to gambling at a real casino is that when playing online in the comfort of your own home, such as can be found at http://onlinecasino.org.uk, you have far more time at your disposal to think about your bet. At a real live casino there is always so much activity and pressure that you feel obliged to act quickly and without time to truly consider the wisdom of your actions. However, given that playing online gives you more time for rational thought, in order to make use of it you need to think rationally. Perhaps you do, which is great, but many people do not. Here is a little test to check out your rational thought processes. In front of you are four special cards which have a picture on one side and a number on the other. You see A, J, 5, 9. Now you are allowed to turn over the minimum number of cards to prove the following statement: Cards that have an A on one side have a 9 on the other side. Which did you choose? Did you pick the A and the 9? If you did then that is the wrong choice, though it is the one that most people make. In fact when a group of students was given this test 75% of them picked the A and the 9. The reason that people make this choice is that if the A had a 9 on one side and the 9 had an A on one side, then they would say the rule was proven. But although the rule specifies that A cards have a 9 on the other side, it does NOT specify anything about cards that have a 9. The only thing that you can prove about the rule is that it is false and the only way you can do that is to turn over the A. If is did not have a 9, then the rule would be false. Understanding the way of thinking that led you to choose the A and the 9 and overcoming it (psychologists call it the confirmation of bias) is very important especially when it comes to games of skill such as blackjack and poker.

Guardian Series: Five New Year Resolutions
Other articles byVicky Coren You are here: Home Poker Articles & Features Vicky Coren Guardian Series: My Favourite Hand of the Late Night Poker Series Victoria Coren It’s quite fun, this Guardian experiment. They’re having a games slot every day – bridge, chess, that sort of thing – and I’m doing the poker one. It’s aimed at the fairly new player, who might have watched a bit of poker on TV and just started playing with their friends and wants a few tips. So for the moment in the column I’m generally advocating caution and covering basics – it’s a way of trying to help people avoid losing all their money in their first few weeks or months playing the game! If the links are going up on the Hendon Mob page, I hope I don’t get a flood of people shouting at me on the forum – ‘What do you MEAN, pass A9 before the flop?’ and that kind of thing. This isn’t complex stuff to be debated by people who have already been playing for years – it’s just start-up tips and ways not to go broke. Whatever I tell the Guardian, I’d probably stick the lot in with A9 cos I came here to gamble…” Vicky… x (Vicky is sponsored by PokerStars.com.

Connecticut May Turn To Internet Casinos To Stay Ahead In Northeast
Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has sat back and watched in recent years as other Northeastern states have lined up to take business from his state. New gaming laws all across the Northeast have taken gamblers out of Connecticut casinos and moved them to places like Maine, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania.Last week, the Department of Justice threw every state in the nation a bone when they issued a legal opinion that excludes casino games from the Wire Act. That declaration allows states to now regulate online gambling within their borders, and Connecticut plans to be one of the first to do so.”Obviously, gaming is an important part of our economy,” said Malloy. “It appears that the only thing the Justice Department has ruled is off the table is sports betting, with the exception of horse betting. So with that one exclusion, everything is up for consideration by the states.”Most states understand that a key to becoming relevant in the online gaming industry will be to become one of the first states to regulate the activity. Malloy claims that Connecticut legislators will take up the issue, possibly as soon as the upcoming session to start the new year. Analysts believe that online gambling could bring tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue to the state.Connecticut’s existing casinos, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, seem likely to receive online gaming licenses should the laws change. The two tribal casinos have struggled to keep their customers in recent years, with competition in the Northeast becoming as fierce as anywhere in the country. Tribal executives are now anticipating a change in the current laws.”This is something we’ve been watching,” said Chuck Bunnell, a spokesman for Mohegan Sun. “We’ve been anticipating that the United States would move into this arena.” December 30, 2011Posted By Tom JonesStaff Editor, CasinoGamblingWeb.comSubmit News!

Online Progressive Slots for Microgaming Platform
Online Progressive Slots (Microgaming Platform) (Part 2) Written by: BondedCasinos.com StaffDate: 23 June, 2008 Both land-based and online casinos have progressive versions of many of their games. Especially slots and video poker. But slots lovers will quickly learn the jackpots are much bigger at online progressive slots due to the simple volume of people playing the games. Software providers incorporate the play from all the casinos to which they provide the games into the progressive jackpots so they get much bigger and payout more often. Huge money jackpots are hit regularly and paid out providing you’re playing at a reputable casino. Progressives are also offered in other game types that won’t be found at most land-based casinos. Not too mention even if you did find them they won’t have near the size jackpots that online progressives accumulate. Online slots games both progressive and not .. offer automatic play meaning you can set it to spin with settings that allow for the game to be stopped after a big win, a set amount of money is won … or lost. Progressive slot games found online offer a variety of credit values … so there are games to fit anybody’s budget though those games that cost less to play seldom boast the sizeable jackpots that the higher stakes progressives will payout. Keep an eye on the progressive games and over a short period of time you’ll get an idea at what amount they tend to payout thus giving you the advantage of knowing when to play that respective game. On an ironic note … there have even been players that have hit progressive jackpots twice in the same day or within a short period of time between the two wins. ……. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better! If you would like to read more about online slots you can read the previous article about the general aspects of microgaming casino slots by clicking here.

Not Everyone Sure Online Gambling is Safe
Nevada and in particularly Las Vegas is pushing to regulate online gambling either within the state or on a national level. Many U.S. land based casinos are already making partnerships with online gambling companies to get ready for what they hope is the inevitable passing of some kind of U.S. regulations. Not everyone however seems to be on the online gambling bandwagon. Sheldon Adelson, chief of the industrys largest publicly traded company, says he opposes online gambling because he doesnt think the software available can keep under age people from gambling. A company spokesperson confirms however this is a personal stance from Adelson and not a formal stance from the company and its worldwide resorts in Las Vegas, Macau, Singapore and Bethlehem, Pa. Other industry companies like the Caesars Entertainment Corp. and MGM Resorts International have openly backed the push to legalize online poker. Adelson shared his view with Frank Fahrenkopf, CEO of the American Gaming Association. Fahrenkopf said in a statement: Sheldon has long had concerns about this issue, and it is perfectly within his right to make this decision. However, the AGA, at the direction of our board of directors, will continue to support federal legislation to allow states to license and regulate online poker. Though there is not a real consensus among the top casino industry but their top lobbyist has taken a step away from neutral and are now actively trying to lobby for federal legislation that would regulate online gambling or at least online poker.

How to Gamble Without Addiction
November 3rd, 2009 / Posted by Suicidalsam in Gambling Addiction, General Gambling is big business, earning the gaming industry billions of dollars each year. In fact, Americans spend more money on legal gambling than they do on movie tickets, recorded music, theme parks, spectator sports and video games combined. A recent program on the Discovery Channel stated that gambling is so attractive, that when the lottery is high, ninety percent of eligible adults buy a ticket! Most people who gamble enjoy gambling as a game; its exciting and fun. And most are able to gamble without risking a gambling addiction. Just as many people can have a glass or two of wine with dinner without becoming an alcoholic, so can they buy a lottery ticket in California, visit a racetrack in Kentucky or even spend their vacation in Panama casinos without serious long-term issues. Anyone who has visited a casino knows how easy it is to feed money into the machines. Still, the occasional visit to a casino does not indicate a problem and many people are able to gamble without addiction as long as they gamble responsibly and keep several important things in mind. Set a realistic budget and stick to it Leave all your credit cards at home except one for an emergencyand losing all your cash because you fed it into the slot machine is not an emergency! This card is in case your car breaks down or you get stranded, not to get an extra $500 for the tables. Also, take only the amount of cash that you can afford to lose. Avoid temptation by not bring any cash that has already been set aside for necessities, like groceries or rent; if its in your pocket, you might be tempted to risk it. Limit or avoid alcoholIts best not to drink while you are gambling as this is a good way to lose more money than you can afford to lose. Alcohol can dull the senses and cause you to make choices that you might not otherwise make so this policy will keep you from making a stupid choice, such as taking $500 out from your credit card, for example. Set a time limit for gambling Wear a watch. The whole idea in a casino is to cause you to lose track of time and spend more money. All the flashing lights and bells from the slot machines as well as the artificial lighting are meant to give you a false sense of reality. If you wear a watch, you can tell how long it takes you to lose a certain amount of money and, if you lose what you can afford to lose in the first hour, its probably time to go home before you lose any more. People who gamble responsibly do so for entertainment and they are able to accept losses as the cost of that entertainment. They are able to balance their gambling with other activities and they do not gamble alone. If you remember these tips, you will be able to enjoy, rather than fear, your gambling experience.
